How to use INOU
Click on CATEYE Atlas for the first time (Beginners guide to using CATEYE Atlas) to view an explanatory video.

Power

The unit cannot be turned on (Red lamp does not light up).
  • Is the battery inserted? Is it inserted in the correct direction? Has it run out?
  • The unit cannot be turned on without SD card. A card that does not operate normally will have the same results.
  • The unit cannot be turned on if the cover is not closed firmly.
The unit is turned off unexpectedly.
  • When the battery has run out, the indicator is turned off with continuous beeps, and then the measurement is terminated. The measurement data up to termination is protected.
  • Are all lights turned on? In the event of memory overload, the unit is automatically turned off. The measurement data up to then is protected.
  • The unit cannot be turned on if the cover is not closed firmly and is turned off when you open the cover during measurement.
  • The unit may be turned off if temporary blackout is caused by rough vibration to battery power supply part.

GPS

GPS is not acquired (Red lamp does not flash).
  • It may take several minutes to acquire after the unit is turned on (about 2 to 3 minutes in an open place outdoors). It may also take extra time when the unit has not been used for a long time, or when the location is far away.
  • Generally, GPS acquisition is disabled in a room, underground, and in a tunnel. It is hard to acquire between buildings.
  • When you have started moving before acquiring GPS, it may be difficult to acquire.
  • It may be hard to acquire when it is bad weather.
  • Is the direction of the unit appropriate? GPS acquisition may be disabled unless it is in a horizontal position.

Measurement

Measurement cannot be performed.
  • After the unit is turned on, press the power button again to start measurement. A yellow lamp flashes during measurement.
  • If the size of a SD card is big, it may take time to get ready to start measuring after switching ON. In that case, please take a moment and start measuring.
  • When all lights turned on, the SD card capacity is full. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
  • It may take time to start measuring (a yellow lamp is turned on) when you use a SD card with large capacity.
  • There is a possibility of malfunction. Remove the batteries, and then put them back in (we recommend cleaning the contacts).
  • Some SD cards are not compatible with INOU. It may be enabled by reformatting using SD Formatter, etc.
It stops unexpectedly.
  • Has the battery run out? Replace with a new battery.
  • If all lights are turned on, the SD card capacity has become full during measurement. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
Measurement time
GPS measurement only: 6.5 hours, GPS measurement + auto photo shooting per minute: 6 hours, GPS measurement + video shooting: 2.5 hours (Reference value at a temperature of 20°C)

Camera

Photos cannot be taken.
  • Are you shooting video? Photos cannot be taken under video shooting.
  • If all lights are turned on, the SD card capacity has become full during measurement. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
How to start auto photo shooting
Press and hold the camera button (a green lamp is turned on under auto photo shooting, and it flashes at the timing of shooting).
How to stop auto photo shooting
Press and hold the camera button (Check that a green lamp is turned off).
Photo shooting interval
Connect a SD card to PC, and select from 1, 2, 5, and 10 minutes on the Unit setting tab in "Various settings" of CATEYE Sync. This is applied when the card is returned to INOU.
Auto photo shooting stops unexpectedly.
If all lights are turned on, the SD card capacity has become full during measurement. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
Videos cannot be taken.
  • Automatically stops video recording when microSD card capacity has become 50MB. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
  • Does the red lamp flash slowly? Videos cannot be taken with the battery level is low.
Video shooting stops unexpectedly.
If all lights are turned on, the SD card capacity has become full during measurement. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
Videos are not smooth.
Connect a SD card to PC, select "Sharp image" on the Unit setting tab in Various settings of CATEYE Sync, and then press the "Save settings" button. Video may not be played smoothly due to an outer shock.
How to change the image quality
Connect a SD card to PC, select "Smooth operation" or "Sharp image" on the Unit setting tab in Various settings of CATEYE Sync. This is applied when the card is returned to INOU.
Video shooting time
Guideline of the video shooting time is 1 hour using a 1GB card.

Indicator

Red (Power/GPS)
  • Off: The unit is turned off. The battery is not consumed; however, it is recommended to remove the battery when the unit is not used for a long period of time.
  • On: Power on the INOU unit is turned on, and ready to use. With this condition, measurement can be started and camera can be operated.
  • Flashing: It is in the measurement standby condition, where GPS is acquired. The route is not recorded unless measurement is started.
  • Flashing slowly: Battery alarm is turned on when the battery level is low. Alkaline batteries can be used even after the battery alarm is turned on (depending on the battery properties).
Yellow (Record)
  • Off: Measurement is not performed. With this condition, camera can be operated, and photos and videos without a route can be taken; however, they cannot be uploaded to Atlas as a trip.
  • On (both red and green lamps are turned on): The memory is overloaded, and photos, videos, and measurements cannot be recorded. Replace the SD card, or delete data from the SD card.
  • Flashing: Records the route when a red lamp flashes under measurement (under GPS acquisition). Even if GPS is not acquired partially and is completely acquired mid-trip, it can be configured as a trip, which can be uploaded to Atlas.
  • Double flashing: Under measurement (distant calibration by SPD sensor is on.) This is the same as above, but receives a signal from the SPD sensor, and corrects the distance of your trips uploaded to CATEYE Atlas.
  • Flashing slowly: Alerts that the memory capacity has become below 200MB.
Green (Camera)
  • Off: Camera stops, and photos and videos are not taken.
  • On: Under auto photo shooting at a specified interval. It flashes at the timing of shooting.
  • Flashing: Under video shooting. Video shooting starts with 2 beeps and stops with 3 beeps.
  • Flashing a few times: Under firmware updating. It flashes and then turned off when the unit is turned on for the first time after a SD card with new firmware is inserted.

SD card

How to update firmware
Connect a SD card to PC, start CATEYE Sync, and then check on "Firmware update". Update, if there is any new version.
Compatible card
MicroSD card HC (up to 32GB *It may take time to start measuring (a yellow lamp is turned on) when you use a SD card with large capacity. Noise might occur while processing but it is not a defect.)
Transfer data to CATEYE Sync or Atlas
Connect a SD card to PC, start CATEYE Sync, and press the "One button upload" or "Download data from SD card" button to download or upload.
How to transmit to Android?
Not available at present
How to delete data
Connect a SD card to PC, and download to CATEYE Sync. The data is then deleted from the SD card.
Data remains in SD card even after downloading to PC.
SD card adapter is locked. If locked, data in SD card cannot be deleted automatically even after downloading to PC. Delete the data in SD card using PC.
CATEYE Sync can not recognize SD card (but your PC can)
SD card without data can cause this error. Insert SD card to INOU and turn on the unit, and then put it back in your PC to see if CATEYE Sync recognizes it.
